I took all of these pictures with my Canon PowerShot SD870 IS Digital ELPH at the 2008 Stone Mountain Highland Games just outside of Atlanta, GA. The Scotish festival is held every October and offers great bagpipe music and sporting activities such as the caber toss, sheeth toss and hammer toss.

I wrote about my story of looking for gas in Atlanta this weekend on my other blog, here. These pictures were worth sharing here. They speak for themselves. A coworker of mine took the first picture with his phone’s camera. The second is from my camera phone.

New York – Pictures from the Top of 30 Rock

I went back to New York City for the first time in over 20 years a couple of weeks ago. These pictures are from the top of 30 Rockefeller Plaza. This will be part of a series of NYC photos I post. The view from up here blew me away. I shot all of these pictures with my little Canon PowerShot SD970 IS Digital Elph.

This is where it starts, the bottom of Rockefeller Plaza.

Pictures of Farm Tool Shed

These are pictures of the old tool shed at our farm.Â It has burn marks on it from where the old farm house burned more than 50 years ago.Â I took these with my new Canon PowerShot SD870 IS Digital Elph camera I bought last week.Â I had it on the top quality setting, but had to crop them down to get them to fit here better.Â I changed them to black and white using Microsoft Office Picture Manager by changed the color saturation to -100.

Tornado Damage Pictures in Downtown Atlanta

We went to downtown Atlanta to go to the Georgia Aquarium today with our simple 3.2 mega pixel Canon A70 and saw the damage done by the tornado that hit last night. These pictures were taken about 12 hours after the tornado hit the CNN Center, Phillips Arena, Georgia Pacific and Equitable buildings, The Westin, among others.

The Drought in Georgia – Pond Picture

Here’s a picture taken on January 7, 2008.Â This is of our pond on our farm in middle Georgia where we finally started getting decent rain about three weeks ago.Â You can see the man-made damn is about four feet above the water where it used to be just a few inches.Â Imagine what it was like a monthÂ earlier after experiencing the driest year in recorded history for Georgia.

Â Â The difference between now and a few weeks ago is this spring is starting to feed the pond again after being bone dry for most of the 2007.

I took this picture around 7:30 am in early January through the sunroof of my car while driving down I-75, just south of Atlanta, GA.Â (I know, not the safest shot, but at least I wasn’t on my cell phone too.)Â I thought the mixture of fog and smog made the sun and sky look really cool.
